NURS 311 - Nursing Interventions I Units: 1 Introduction to the student to the basic interventions necessary to provide safe nursing care.
Prerequisites: B.S. Nursing major. Co-requisites: NURS 310. Equivalent Quarter Course: NURS 2022. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: CR/NC grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate basic nursing skills according to the performance criteria evaluation.
- Demonstrate safe, compassionate, quality, nursing care by following the scope and standards of nursing practice.
- Identify and report actual and potentially unsafe practices in the healthcare setting, as well take measures to prevent patient harm.
- Recognize when it is appropriate to delegate foundation skills to assistive personnel.
- Demonstrate appropriate electronic documentation of nursing skills.
- Describe and demonstrate safe medication administration to an assigned patient with accuracy.
- Demonstrate appropriate, accurate documentation of medication administration.
- Describe and demonstrate various nursing procedures (e.g., wound care, urinary catheterization, feeding tube management, injections).
