ART 181 - Introduction to Transdisciplinary Art and Design


Units: 3
Theory and practice of contemporary transdisciplinary visual arts research to permit new pathways for learning between, across, and beyond traditional disciplines and majors. Explorations into how two or more disciplines can be used to creatively answer art and design challenges. 

Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Describe transdisciplinary art and design and explain the role of researchers working jointly using shared conceptual frameworks;
  2. Explain the differences between multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to creative work;
  3. Successfully share and learn skills and experiences with collaborators to explore new knowledge;
  4. Synthesize multiple perspectives to use in the creation of art or solutions to complex problems.
