HDEV 432 - Social Dimensions of Conflict in Adolescent and Adult Development Units: 4 Studies the impact and consequences of conflict on human development, ranging from wars and military actions to prisons and domestic violence. Focuses on contemporary social conflict using an interdisciplinary social science perspective.
Prerequisites: Junior, senior or post-baccalaureate standing. Equivalent Quarter Course: HDEV 4450. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - demonstrate basic knowledge of social, cultural, psychological, and biological domains of adolescent and adult development in conflict situations.
- understand how gender, culture, ethnicity and social class both condition and provide a context for the responses to conflict situations made by adolescents and adults.
- analyze the relationship between social conflict and macro-historical trends (such as climate change and the transnationalization of global capitalism) and understand their impact on adolescent and adult development.
