CS 100 - Programming for Everyone


Units: 3
An introduction to computer programming for non majors. Topics include interdisciplinary computing applications, computer systems, algorithm design, and programming language control structures. Programming projects in the Python programming language.

Credit Restrictions: Not for Computer Science major or minor credit.
Equivalent Quarter Course: CS 1160.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand computer science and its quantitative use in various disciplines;
  2. Interpret and solve problems from a variety of disciplines using program design methodologies and algorithm development;
  3. Use programming language control structures (statements, conditions, loops) for program implementation;
  4. Design and test a program that solves a real-world quantitative problem using the Python programming language;
  5. Verify the results of a program are correct by interpreting the data.
