CHEM 470 - Chemical Literature Units: 1 Systematic introduction to the use of the chemical literature, including the use of physical library resources and online database searching.
Prerequisites: CHEM 332 with grade C- or better. Equivalent Quarter Course: CHEM 4700. Possible Instructional Methods: Hybrid Only. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - locate the hardcopy and electronic tools chemists use to find information they need to support their scientific investigations;
- extract useful information from these tools on chemistry and biochemistry topics;
- construct two high-quality scientific presentations, one poster and one PowerPoint slide show;
- recognize and avoid plagiarism;
- format references correctly.
