MUS 416 - Jazz Arranging for Large Ensemble

Focus on arranging and orchestration techniques for large jazz ensemble. Study of ensemble scores from the jazz masters and the use of doublings, mutes, voicings, upper-structure triads, and linear harmonization to arrange and compose for big band.

Prerequisites: MUS 212 and MUS 316.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MUS 4077.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
