GE Minor in Sustainability

The GEM-S requires completion of a minimum of 15 units within GE (9 units of which are in upper-division GE) and includes two Overlay requirements specific for the minor: a Climate Neutrality Overlay and an Applied Sustainability Overlay. The GEM-S includes the following course categories:

At least two courses (min. 6 units) from Course Category I, Lower-division GE Breadth Areas B1, B2, C1-2, D1-2, and/or F;
One course (min. 3 units) from Course Category II, Upper-division GE UD-B Science Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning;
One course (min. 3 units) from Course Category III, Upper-division GE UD-C Arts or Humanities;
One course (min. 3 units) from Course Category IV, Upper-division GE UD-D Social Sciences;
One GE course from any Category I - IV that fulfills the Climate Neutrality (C-Neutral) Overlay (only required for the GEM-S), which must be a course different from the course used to fulfill the Applied Sustainability Overlay;
One upper-division GE course from any Category II - IV that fulfills the Applied Sustainability Overlay (only required for the GEM-S), which must be different from the course used to fulfill the C-Neutral Overlay.

Students must complete the remaining GE breadth and graduation requirements (including the University Overlays) not completed within the minor in order to graduate.
