Program Description

Reach your full potential in the field of engineering and - realize the future you envision with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). As a graduate of CSUEB’s ABET accredited Industrial Engineering degree program you’ll be prepared for a highly rewarding professional career designing, building, and managing state-of-the-art manufacturing and service systems. Industrial Engineers serve an essential need in today’s technical society as the interface between humans and technology. Industrial engineers work to improve the quality and efficiency of the production of goods and delivery of services.

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities for industrial engineers exist in many sectors including manufacturing, services, financial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, high tech. It also involves many functions such as planning, logistics and supply chain optimization, quality, forecasting and simulation, project supervision and improvement.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students who graduate with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering will be able to:

  1. identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  2. apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
  3. communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  4. recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
  5. function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  6. develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  7. acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Degree Requirements Unit-Outline

  • A baccalaureate of science degree requires a total of 125 units: *see Errata Program  page
    • The major requirements consists of 89 units;
    • General Education (GE) & Graduation Requirements (GR) consists of 57 units;
    • Free Electives may consist of 0 units (actual number of free elective units may depend on GE/GR units).

Note: It may be possible to double-count units within the graduation requirements or that a course may satisfy both a graduation requirement and a major requirement. Students should contact their program and AACE advisors for information.

The following 40 units of lower-division interdisciplinary coursework is required:

Under consultation with their advisor, students shall select a minimum of 6 units of approved, upper-division Math/Basic Science elective courses.
