Program Discription
The CSUEB Mathematics Single Subject Matter Certificate Program includes a variety of courses intended to prepare students for a career as a high school mathematics teacher. CSUEB’s Mathematics Single Subject Matter Program yields a State Board of Education approved certification. The certification allows a student to waive taking the three required math California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSETs). A student need not be a mathematics major to complete this program; however, students who complete the mathematics major and select the courses designated for future teachers will have completed all of the required mathematics coursework for the Mathematics Single Subject Matter Program. In addition to the required mathematics courses, a year of education courses and practice teaching is required before the California Secondary Teaching Credential in Mathematics can be granted.
A minimum of forty-six (46) semester units are required in the Mathematics Single Subject Matter Certificate Program.
