Department Statement
There are many job opportunities locally for Statisticians in many diverse areas of application, such as Actuarial Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Analysis, Data Science, Medical Statistics, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Finance, Banking, Government, Education, Consulting, and many others. Students are encouraged to consider the fields of Statistics and Biostatistics as a program of study, whether graduate or undergraduate. Many of the Department’s undergraduate students are double-majors. Computer Science, Math, and Psychology majors, in particular, have found double-majoring with Statistics to be valuable in getting a job or pursuing higher degrees.
