CIVE 421 - Structural Engineering Design


Units: 4
Theories and concepts of concrete and steel design and analysis. Design experience and skills will be gained through problem-solving with a comprehensive project. An understanding of real-world design issues will be developed based on materials and structural design criteria.

Prerequisites: CIVE 385
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand the basic principles and structural behavior of reinforced concrete and steel members.
  2. Analyze and design reinforced concrete and steel structural members.
  3. Be able to design solutions to real-world problems using modern engineering techniques, skills, and tools.
