CIVE 350 - Geotechnical Engineering Units: 3 Subsurface stresses, settlement analysis, site investigation and filed methods, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, and retaining wall design.
Prerequisites: ENGR 220 Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Analyze soil particle size distribution and soil’s weight-volume relationships.
- Recommend shear strength parameters based on experimental and in situ conditions.
- Apply soil mechanics concepts to design or evaluate foundations and retaining walls.
- Be able to design solutions to real-world problems using modern engineering techniques, skills, and tools.
