BIOL 452 - Plant Biology


Units: 4
A broad and integrated presentation of plant development, morphology and physiology, with emphasis on the main evolutionary steps in the plant tree of life. An overview of plant biology, including economic and environmental aspects.

Prerequisites: BIOL 320
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Describe the diversity of plants and their evolution and classification;

2. Explain plants’ life cycles from seed germination to growth and reproduction;

3. Describe photosynthesis and cellular respiration, as well as their interactions with environmental factors;

4. Evaluate the role of plants in the environment and in people’s lives;

5. Design and conduct hypothesis-driven experiments in plant biology.
