REC 310 - Women and Leisure

Investigate leisure and recreational pursuits of women from historical, cultural, societal, political, economic, and social justice perspectives. Discuss social changes and other factors that influence leisure opportunities and impact quality of life for women and diverse populations.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: Upper division status (greater than 60 earned semester units) and completion of lower division Area D1-3 requirements; and HOS 100, REC 100.
Prerequisites: Completion of GE Areas A1, A2, A3 and B4 with grade C- (CR) or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Analyze the leisure and recreation pursuits of women from various perspectives (historical, cultural, societal, political, economic, and social justice).
Through research activities, identify factors that influence leisure opportunities for women and how they contribute to quality of life, social justice, and equity.
Discuss social changes related to leisure, the impact on women, and how to implement positive social change for women and others.
Describe specific actions needed at the individual and societal level to increase equity and cross-cultural sensitivity in leisure for women and diverse populations.
