REC 320 - Aquatic Management


Units: 3
Unique aspects of aquatic program management, including risk management, legal issues, appropriate training techniques, program planning, staffing, facility design and supervising aquatic environments.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: HOS 100 and REC 100.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground, or Hybrid or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Analyze risk management and legal issues in aquatic environments.
  2. Examine effective management strategies for hiring, supervision, training and team building for aquatic personnel.
  3. Investigate best practices for budgeting, financial management and operation of aquatic facilities.
  4. Discuss aspects of a comprehensive aquatic maintenance plan, including water chemistry, filtration, sanitation and operating standards.
