GEOG 425 - Advanced GIS Units: 3 Advanced tools, data management, and functions in geographic information systems (GIS) on the mapping, monitoring, analysis, management and conservation of environmental resources; topics in spatial data analysis, 3D-visualization, and modeling of geographic information science (GISci). Lecture Units: 2; Lab Units: 1.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of the ArcGIS software framework and how GIS technology is implemented.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using advanced GIS tools to create maps for multilayered spatial analysis.
- Execute a research-based analysis using mainstream GIS technology to address a scientific topic of societal concern.
- Develop the skill set required to effectively explain and defend one’s GIS project at a professional conference.
