DANC 116 - Dance Partnering I


Units: 1 ; Breadth Area: GE-E
Embodied study of partner dances. All experience levels.  Techniques drawing from Contact Improvisation, Ballroom Dance, Social Dance, Athletics, and Martial Arts. Effective communication skills between dance partners.

Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 2 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. utilize basic dance partnering techniques;
  2. adapt movement specifically for their own body, abilities/disabilities and technique level;
  3. communicate and collaborate in diverse environments;
  4. perform original works choreographed by an individual or in collaboration with others.
