PSYC 300W - Experimental Psychology


Units: 4
A research course in the development, design, and execution of psychological experiments; the analysis of data; and the writing of research reports in APA format.

Prerequisites: PSYC 200 and STAT 310, satisfaction of second composition and junior or senior standing.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground or Online-Asynchronous.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Describe the scientific process in general and experimental research in particular.
  2. Identify the characteristics of a research hypothesis.
  3. Use scholarly resources to locate relevant scientific literature.
  4. Evaluate journal articles.
  5. Identify the principles of research ethics.
  6. Collect and manage data.
  7. Analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques and interpret the results.
  8. Present research findings in American Psychological Association format.
