ART 481 - Transdisciplinary Art and Design Seminar


Units: 3
Contemporary topics in transdisciplinary art and design with an emphasis on how students can frame their projects in terms of larger cultural, political, and technological shifts by critically reflecting on their own creative processes and work.

Prerequisites: ART 181.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Describe the intellectual and contextual background for transdisciplinary art and design;
  2. List literature and projects that are used in reshaping cultural practices;
  3. Demonstrate skills to investigate the complex issues from various aspects with a transdisciplinary perspective;
  4. Critically reflect on personal design processes and articulate how personal art and design practice relates to traditional art and design and to emerging opportunities;
  5. Frame art and design projects in terms of larger cultural, political, and technological shifts.
