CHEM 352 - Physical Chemistry II


Units: 3
Fundamental principles of time-independent quantum mechanics. Translational, vibrational, and rotational motion, atomic structure, valence bond and molecular orbital theory.

Prerequisites: CHEM 351 with grade C- or better.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Explain and apply the fundamental postulates of quantum mechanics;
  2. Formulate the mathematical description for the quantum mechanical motion of a particle;
  3. Model the vibrational and rotational motion of molecules;
  4. Formulate and apply theories for the electronic structure of atoms and molecules.
