MUS 410 - 20th and 21st C Styles and Techniques


Units: 3
Intensive course that introduces students to the inner workings of European and American art music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Prerequisites: MUS 312.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of the different genres and styles within 20th and 21st art music.
  2. Analyze and evaluate works of music in various forms in their technical, aesthetic, and historical contexts.
  3. Apply the knowledge learned in earlier theory courses to extended musical works.
  4. Implement the principles and concepts studied in class via performance on your area of emphasis.
