MUS 355 - East Bay Jazz Orchestra Units: 1 Major performance ensemble in the tradition of jazz big band. Field trip(s) may be required. Audition required.
Prerequisites: Department consent. Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Develop skills necessary to perform in large jazz ensembles and big bands.
- Focus on ensemble and sectional blend, intonation, rhythmic cohesiveness and stylistic authenticity.
- Perform major venues and concerts.
- Learn Protocols for student ensemble performances as well as program building in music education settings.
