POSC 495 - Political Internship


Units: 1-3
Practical experience on a legislative or executive staff or in a campaign organization.

Prerequisites: Department consent.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Variable Intermittently


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Critical Thinking skills : Students will develop the ability to apply, and analyze materials (e.g., data or texts) and to think critically as part of the internship. 
  2. Communication Skills : students will demonstrate the necessary oral and written skills to convey their knowledge about political science to others in the field.
  3. Applied Learning Environment : Students will have the opportunity to apply theories and concepts in a non-classroom setting in the field and learn from practitioners firsthand to enhance classroom experience.
