POSC 338 - Asian American Politics

The role of Asian Americans in state and national politics; political history of Asian Americans in American politics, public policy issues concerning Asian Americans, successes and failures of Asian American empowerment strategies, and electoral impact of Asian American votes.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Critically assess the consequences of US policies towards Asian Americans race and understand the need for a broad social justice agenda. This will be achieved through reading comprehension and completion of assignments.
Develop a deeper understanding of civic engagement and the intrinsic value of being an agent of change. This will be achieved through the course project that aims at raising awareness of issues that affect Asian Americans.
Gain written and oral competency of course concepts, empirical analysis, and theoretic applications of political issues and political incorporation. This will be achieved through completion of comprehension assignments and class discussion where students can demonstrate mastery of course materials.
Gain collaborative and practical skills to prepare for a career in political science. This will be achieved through course project creating an awareness mobilization campaign to engage communities into political action.
