PH 499B - Capstone in Public Health Interventions Units: 3 Capstone course where students apply knowledge and skills gained in their courses by exploring select issues public health, research and analyze existing policies to make a recommendation. Students prepare a summative professional portfolio. Lecture Units: 2; Activity Units: 1.
Prerequisites: B.S. HSC: Concentration in Public Health major and PH 400. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge and skills gained from their courses by analyzing a current public health issue to demonstrate competency in public health.
- Develop self-directed learning skills, interpersonal skills and group skills critical for a health professional in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Design a presentation discussing public health issues affecting diverse populations and propose solutions that are culturally appropriate and sensitive.
- Articulate their personal beliefs and goals and evaluate professional preparedness by completing a senior portfolio.
