MLL 344 - Spanish Linguistics and Phonetics Units: 4 An introduction to the history of Spanish language, grammatical systems (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax), and socio-linguistics status of Spanish in the U.S.
Prerequisites: MLL 242. Equivalent Quarter Course: MLL 3411 or MLL 3412. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid. Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice). Course Typically Offered: Spring ONLY
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Students will demonstrate knowledge of the origin and development of Spanish language.
- Students will be able to apply the principles of linguistics analysis with emphasis upon examples taken from the Spanish world.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge the principles of Spanish pronunciation and intonation through the phonetic structure of the language.
- Students will be able to identify their own challenges as a second language learner or Spanish heritage speaker in US.
