Multicultural counseling and psychotherapy, cultural values and personality formation; value orientation inherent in counseling and psychotherapy; psychological effects of cultural racism; effects of sex roles and life styles within different cultures.

How race, culture and socio-political economic conditions may influence the counseling process.
Students’ own cultural background and biases and how they might impact counseling.
How to work within each unique client’s cultural context in counseling.
How therapeutic approaches and strategies need to fit the unique qualities of each client.
Facilitating communication and professional, collaborative relationships in multicultural settings.
Recognizing common problems and patterns of problematic interactions or biased views of cultural diversity.
Integrating strategies to work with clients of diverse cultures.
Applying an Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice model of service delivery.
