GEOL 671 - Field Experience


Units: 1-2
Applied field based inquiry activities that provide students with opportunities to acquire and practice professional and technical field skills. Students spend extended periods in a natural, outdoor laboratory setting working closely with peers and instructor.

Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units when content varies.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Critically evaluate topographic features and landforms using geologic tools and methods.
  2. Characterize field site according to industry standards.
  3. Apply standard industry practices and professional skills in the collection of field data.
  4. Compile and construct a synthesis based on field observations, data, and analysis.
