ENGL 406 - Advanced Workshop in Poetry

An advanced-level poetry writing workshop. Close analysis of student manuscripts with some attention paid to suitability for publication.

Strongly Recommended Preparation: ENGL 206.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 4075.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 8 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Demonstrate in their writing of original poems an advanced understanding of a range of styles and approaches in verse-writing;
Read professional poems critically and as models for their own writing;
Have provided useful, craft-based feedback to their workshop peers; Investigate possibilities of publication for their work in contexts beyond the classroom.
