FIN 445 - Financial Modeling


Units: 3
Using spreadsheets to solve a range of financial problems in investments, small business and corporate finance.  Hands-on application of financial concepts in order to develop skills useful in a variety of jobs in finance, accounting, insurance, real estate and management.

Prerequisites: FIN 300.
Equivalent Quarter Course: FIN 4330.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Accurately compute the estimated market value of financial and non-financial assets using MS Excel-based models.
  2. Analyze and assess corporate and financial market data through on-line data sources for use in the analysis of financial issues.
  3. Efficiently retrieve, organize and analyze large amounts of data for use in Excel based models.
  4. Distinguish the appropriate financial valuation model and use to value common asset classes.
