BAN 620 - Data Mining


Units: 3
Fundamental concepts of data mining and extensive hands-on experience in applying the concepts to real-world applications. Topics include dimension reduction, classification, association analysis, clustering and model evaluation techniques. Business applications of data mining techniques are emphasized.

Prerequisites: BAN 602.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ITM 6285 or MGMT 6285.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Apply data mining tools to analyze business data and implement the models using advanced software packages.
  2. Interpret results, simulate scenarios and develop recommendations that support decision making.
  3. Analyze datasets from various industries and functional areas.
