INDE 360 - Operations Research


Units: 4
Theory and application of deterministic and probabilistic optimization techniques. Topics selected from project management, networks, linear programming, non-linear programming, game theory and dynamic programming. Applications using specialized software.

Prerequisites: MATH 131.
Equivalent Quarter Course: INDE 3841.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Apply critical path method (CPM), Performance Evaluation Review Technique (PERT), Max Flow and Minimum Spanning Tree techniques to solve network problems.
  2. Formulate given word problems into mathematical relationships and solve using appropriate graphical and computer based tools
  3. Calculate expected pay-offs and value of perfect information in decision analysis problems
  4. Identify and solve competitive problems using game theory techniques to develop optimal strategies
