CMGT 480 - Construction Safety Units: 3 Introduction to the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and other related federal and state legislations as applied to the building construction industry. Standards for accident prevention, hazard identification, and responsibility for compliance emphasized.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Recognize the importance of safety in an industrial or construction environment and the professional and academic opportunities of this field;
- Identify basic principles of hazard sources related to environment, humans and equipment;
- Evaluate safety hazards in the field and propose solutions and explain the principles of hazard recognition, control, investigation and prevention;
- Distinguish ethical and legal implications of safety-related decisions.
