MGMT 608 - Operations and Supply Chain Management


Units: 3
Managing and controlling processes that produce and deliver goods and services of a company. Topics include operations and supply chain strategy, product/process design and improvement, capacity and constraint management, quality management and control, lean management, and inventory management. Formerly BUS 608.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: MGMT 6220.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Understand key concepts and issues of operations and supply chain in both services and manufacturing organizations.
  2. Understand the strategic role of operations management in creating and enhancing a firm’s competitive advantage in a dynamic global environment.
  3. Develop extensive skills in applying quantitative and qualitative methods and tools of analyzing and solving a variety of problems in operations and supply chain management.
  4. Analyze operations processes from various perspectives such as efficiency, quality, responsiveness, and sustainability.
  5. Explain the interdependence of the operations functions with the other key functional areas of a firm.
