CS 431 - Database Architecture

Units: 3
Data models, data description and data manipulation languages. Schemas, query processing, database system architecture. Integrity, concurrency, and security techniques. Implementation of data models in a real database.

Prerequisites: CS 301 with grade C- or better.
Equivalent Quarter Course: CS 4660 or CS 4665.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Analyze a problem that is based on large amounts of data in order to portion the data into areas of the database;
Develop and maintain a database;
Implement queries to extract needed information from a database;
Apply current database technology such as Postgres or MySQL.
