REC 660 - Sustainable Solutions in Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism


Units: 3
Analyze, develop, and advocate for sustainable management solutions in hospitality, recreation and tourism, both locally and globally. Discuss economic, social, and environmental practices to enhance sustainability. 

Prerequisites: Department consent.
Equivalent Quarter Course: REC 6601.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Entirely Online, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Investigate economic, social and environmental practices to address sustainability in hospitality, recreation and tourism.
  2. Discuss practical and effective management strategies to implement, monitor and evaluate sustainability initiatives.
  3. Analyze industry data, sustainability plans and other current, credible sources regarding sustainable solutions.
  4. Identify short and long-term impacts of sustainability practices.
  5. Produce a plan detailing sustainable solutions for one segment of a hospitality, recreation or tourism industry.
