ENGL 654 - Supervised Tutoring and Teaching

Units: 2
Supervised internship with students in ESOL classes and tutorials. Course may be repeated, but repeated units may not count towards degree.

Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing.
Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 6508 or ENGL 6608.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 10 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: CR/NC grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Participate in an internship with an experienced ESOL teacher.
Provide assistance to mentor teacher.
Write reflective journals about internship experiences.
Plan and teach lessons for mentor teacher’s class.
Participate in class discussions about assigned readings and internship experiences.
