ENGL 622 - 20th Century American Literature


Units: 4
Study of major American works, authors, and literary topics of the 20th century.

Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 6665.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
 

  1. Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to analyze and interpret various twentieth- and twenty-first-century American literary texts in clear and cogent prose.
  2. Discuss 2-3 theoretical perspectives about literature and apply these to the literature we read.
  3. Prepare a research seminar paper that demonstrates facility with conducting research in traditional and nontraditional ways.
  4. Work collaboratively in class presentations and independently on a seminar research paper appropriate for a scholarly conference presentation (10 pages plus notes and Works Cited).
