ENGL 653 - Theory and Practice of Teaching Reading to Adults Units: 2 Focuses on current research as well as practical, innovative methods for teaching reading to adult English learners.
Prerequisites: Post-baccalaureate standing. Equivalent Quarter Course: ENGL 6502. Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground. Grading: A-F grading only. Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - Use current language teaching approaches in the development and demonstration of lesson plans.
- Analyze learner needs to guide curricular choices.
- Summarize and evaluate the principles of learner-centered curricula.
- Tutor language learners individually or in groups.
- Participate in and evaluate a professional development activity.
- Create a curriculum vitae.
- Describe and evaluate ESOL materials.
