CRJ 425 - Transnational Crime


Units: 3
Examines transnational crimes and international responses. Topics include but not limited to organized crime, environmental crime, terrorism, trafficking in drugs, weapons, and persons. Analysis of transnational crime control, and global organized crime issues.

Equivalent Quarter Course: CRJA 4130.
Possible Instructional Methods: Entirely On-ground, or Hybrid.
Grading: A-F or CR/NC (student choice).
Course Typically Offered: Fall & Spring


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Define the types of transnational crimes covered in this class;
  2. Examine the unique issues and motivations associated with each of the different types of organized crime presented in this class;
  3. Identify control strategies used to prevent and stop each of the types of transnational crime discussed in this class;
  4. Analyze police and prosecutorial responses to transnational crime, adjudicating international crimes, transnational crime and the rule of law, and the correctional issues related to transnational crime.
