Single Subject Matter Preparation: Social Science


Completion of the Single Subject Matter Preparation Program in Social Science is certified by the Department of History. The program may be completed by students in any major, but overlaps major requirements in several Social Science fields such as History, Political Science, Geography, and Economics. The Single Subject Matter Preparation program in Social Science requires 84 units. This program has been designed to meet CCTC standards. Note: No more than 8 units may be taken on a CR/NC basis. No more than 8 units with a grade below “C” may be submitted in fulfillment of any program requirement. To successfully complete the program, a student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA in courses taken to fulfill program requirements or complete additional coursework to be determined by the program advisor. Students must successfully complete the “capstone course” in the final quarter of their participation in the program.
