ART 361 - Color and Concept


Units: 3
Exploration of the use of color focusing on physical, perceptual, historical and cultural aspects of color. Hands on assignments will apply color systems, illusionary color, emotional, graphic and cultural symbolism. Readings, art/design lectures and field trips augment the course.

Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.
Course Typically Offered: Fall ONLY


Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
  1. Increase awareness of conceptual development process and practices;
  2. Conduct and present sound research techniques to develop a concept;
  3. Understand the importance of sketchbooks and comps to refine concepts;
  4. Critically view and discuss illustrative concepts. Demonstrate and discuss the use of color to communicate visual ideas;
  5. Analyze and discuss various color concepts.
