ART 270 - Drawing II

Basic drawing skills, using a wide range of drawing media towards a personal aesthetic. Discussions of the social and cultural contexts underlying historical and contemporary drawing. Descriptive, subjective and conceptual projects.

Prerequisites: ART 100.
Repeatability: May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 6 units.
Possible Instructional Methods: On-ground.
Grading: A-F grading only.

Student Learning Outcomes - Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Make drawings integrating formal elements and personal interpretation using a broad range of media, formats and surfaces;
reate a portfolio of drawings which demonstrates: a. Use of value for descriptive and expressive purposes, b. Exploration of wet and dry media, combinations (mixed media), non-traditional tools, and supports, c. informed use of color for observation, subjective expression, and conceptual drawings d. use of diverse techniques and applications of color on varied supports, e. understanding of abstraction in drawing, f. understanding conceptual approaches to drawing, g. ability to unite form and content in their drawing;
Critique projects using clear, appropriate terminology in oral or written formats;
Examine and describe historical and contemporary developments, trends, materials, and approaches in drawing.
